Pahalgam Terror Attack Shocks the Nation; Javed Akhtar, Bollywood Celebrities Demand Justice

The recent terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam has sent shockwaves across the nation, with 26 civilians losing their lives and at least 20 others injured. The incident, which occurred on Tuesday afternoon in the Baisaran area, has drawn strong condemnation from citizens, political leaders, and the film industry alike.

Javed Akhtar Condemns Attack, Calls for Accountability

Veteran lyricist and writer Javed Akhtar took to social media on Wednesday to express his outrage over the attack, demanding strict action against the perpetrators. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he wrote:

“Come what may, whatever the cost, whatever the repercussions, the terrorists of Pahalgam cannot be allowed to get away. These mass murderers have to pay with their lives for their inhuman deeds.”

His remarks resonated widely online, with many users echoing his sentiments. One commenter noted, “Justice must prevail — not just for the victims, but for the soul of humanity itself.” Another wrote, “Influential voices like yours must stand with the people — the country is listening.”

Bollywood Mourns Victims of Pahalgam Attack

Several Bollywood celebrities also voiced their sorrow and condemnation following the attack. Actor and filmmaker Farhan Akhtar posted a message of solidarity on Instagram:

“Deeply shocked and horrified by the brutal terrorist attack in Pahalgam. This senseless act of violence against innocent lives is absolutely inexcusable and must be condemned in the strongest possible terms. My heartfelt condolences go out to the families of those who lost their lives, and I stand in solidarity with the people of Kashmir during this tragic time.”

Actors including Akshay Kumar, Vicky Kaushal, Sanjay Dutt, Alia Bhatt, Anushka Sharma, and Kareena Kapoor Khan also expressed their grief and support for the victims and their families.

National Response and Ongoing Investigation

The attack occurred around 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday when armed militants opened fire on a group of civilians in Pahalgam’s Baisaran area. Security forces were quickly deployed to the scene. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was on an official visit to Saudi Arabia at the time, cut short his trip and returned to Delhi on Wednesday morning. He skipped the state dinner to address the crisis.

In a statement, PM Modi condemned the attack and vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice, reaffirming India’s “unshakable” resolve to fight terrorism.

“The guilty will not be spared. We will not rest until justice is served,” he said.

As the country grieves and demands swift action, investigations into the attack continue, with security forces working to identify and apprehend those responsible.
