Rajnath Singh Warns Pahalgam Attackers and Their Sponsors: “India Will Deliver a Loud and Clear Response”
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday issued a strong warning to the perpetrators of the Pahalgam terror attack and those orchestrating violence from behind the scenes, asserting that India will soon deliver a “loud and clear” response.
The warning came a day after 26 people, mostly tourists, were killed in a brutal terrorist attack near the town of Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir. Speaking about the tragedy, Singh described the incident as a “cowardly act” deliberately targeting a particular community, and assured the nation that the government is committed to bringing the attackers and their handlers to justice.
“Yesterday, in Pahalgam, terrorists executed a cowardly act targeting a particular religion, costing many innocent lives. I want to assure the country that we will not only reach those who carried out the attack, but also the actors behind the scenes,” Singh said. “The accused will soon receive a loud and clear response.”
High-Level Security Review
In response to the attack, Singh chaired a high-level security meeting on Wednesday to review the situation in Jammu and Kashmir. According to sources cited by PTI, the two-and-a-half-hour meeting was attended by National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, and Air Chief Marshal AK Singh.
During the meeting, Army Chief Gen. Dwivedi presented a comprehensive briefing on the current security landscape and troop deployment across the region.
Prime Minister Modi Cuts Short Visit, Condemns Attack
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was in Saudi Arabia at the time of the attack, condemned the incident as a “heinous act” and vowed to bring those responsible to justice. Modi cut short his trip and returned to New Delhi early Wednesday morning. Upon arrival, he held meetings with NSA Ajit Doval, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri to discuss India’s response.
International Condemnation
The attack has drawn strong condemnation from the international community. Several countries, including the United States, denounced the violence. U.S. President Donald Trump spoke with Prime Minister Modi on Tuesday night, expressing solidarity and assuring India of America’s full support in the fight against terrorism.
