Owaisi Accuses Centre of Discriminating Against Telangana
Lok Sabha MP and AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Saturday alleged that the BJP-led central government is not treating the people of Telangana fairly.
“I believe the Government of India is not being fair to the people of Telangana. Despite having eight BJP MPs, including some Union ministers, the state is not receiving its due share of projects,” Owaisi said, as quoted by ANI.
The Hyderabad MP urged the Centre to ensure equal allocation of resources, similar to what is provided to other states.
“Our only demand is fair treatment. What other states receive should also be sanctioned for Telangana. Kerala, Assam, Meghalaya, Punjab, and Jharkhand—all smaller than Telangana—have more IPS officers. The state had proposed an increase in IPS strength, but the Centre has not approved it,” he added.
Owaisi’s Remarks Follow Telangana Govt’s Meeting with MPs
Owaisi made these comments after attending a meeting of Telangana MPs, convened by the state government to discuss pending issues with the Centre.
Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, in an official statement, said the meeting aimed to push MPs to raise these concerns in Parliament and with the central government. The state government extended invitations to all MPs, including Union ministers G Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar.
Telangana Govt Accuses Centre of Blocking Key Projects
According to PTI, the Telangana government has been seeking approvals and funding for several key projects, including:
- Hyderabad Metro Rail expansion
- Musi River redevelopment
- Regional Ring Road (RRR)
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has alleged that Union Minister Kishan Reddy is deliberately obstructing these projects by urging his ministerial colleagues not to approve them.
“Kishan Reddy fears that if these projects are sanctioned, the Congress government will get the credit,” Revanth Reddy claimed. However, Kishan Reddy dismissed the allegations.
