Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday, in a blog post, hailed the Maha Kumbh 2025 as the ‘Maha Yagya of Unity’ following the conclusion of the 45-day-long religious festival with the ‘Shahi Snan’ on Mahashivratri.
Reflecting on his participation, the prime minister recalled taking a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam—a sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati—on February 5. He wrote, “The Maha Kumbh has concluded. The Maha Yagya of unity has come to an end. When a nation breaks free from the shackles of centuries-old colonial mindset and breathes in the air of newfound consciousness, it creates historic moments like those witnessed in Prayagraj after January 13.”
Drawing a connection to the grand consecration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya last year, PM Modi further remarked, “On January 22, 2024, I spoke about devotion and patriotism. During the Maha Kumbh, the presence of saints, seers, children, elders, women, and youth reflected the country’s awakened consciousness.”
He emphasized that Maha Kumbh 2025 was a festival of national unity, where the collective faith of 140 crore Indians was displayed with unparalleled devotion.
PM Modi Lauds Yogi Adityanath’s Leadership
Calling the Maha Kumbh a “subject of research for management professionals and policy experts,” the prime minister praised the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government for the meticulous planning and execution of the event.
“As a Member of Parliament from Uttar Pradesh, I take immense pride in how the people and administration, under the leadership of Yogi Adityanath, ensured the success of this historic event. Be it the Centre or the state, no one acted as rulers or mere administrators—everyone served as devoted ‘sevaks’ during the Maha Kumbh, working with utmost dedication,” Modi stated.
He also acknowledged the people of Prayagraj for their unwavering support, despite challenges, in assisting pilgrims and ensuring a smooth experience for all devotees. “The generosity and hospitality shown by the people of Prayagraj over these 45 days is commendable. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to them and the people of Uttar Pradesh,” he said.
According to the Uttar Pradesh government, over 66.21 crore devotees took the sacred dip in the holy Triveni Sangam during Maha Kumbh 2025, making it one of the largest spiritual gatherings in history.
