Supreme Court Criticizes Ranveer Allahbadia’s Vulgar Remarks on YouTube Show, Issues Strict Orders

The Supreme Court on Tuesday came down hard on YouTube celebrity Ranveer Allahbadia for his distasteful comments made during an episode of India’s Got Latent hosted by Samay Raina, describing the remarks as vulgar and unacceptable. The court stated that Allahbadia’s behavior reflected something “very dirty” in his mind, which he then “vomited” on the show.

“Such behavior must be condemned. Just because you’re popular doesn’t mean you can disregard society. Who in the world would accept this kind of language? There is something very dirty in his mind which was spilled out. Why should we protect him?” the court declared, according to Bar and Bench.

The controversial comments led to multiple FIRs being filed against Allahbadia, prompting him to approach the Supreme Court for relief. In his plea, he sought a stay on arrest and a request for the FIRs to be clubbed together.

The bench, consisting of Justices Surya Kant and N Kotiswar Singh, granted temporary relief by protecting Allahbadia from immediate arrest, but the court took a strong stance by restraining him from airing any further YouTube shows.

Justice Kant was particularly critical of Allahbadia’s language, saying, “The words you have chosen are shameful. Parents and sisters will be ashamed. Society will be ashamed. The perverted mind that is evident in your remarks and the perversion you and your associates have exhibited is deeply concerning.”

The court also emphasized the importance of following the rule of law, stating that if Allahbadia faced any threats, the law would take its course.

Furthermore, the Supreme Court directed Allahbadia to deposit his passport with the Thane police and prohibited him from leaving the country without obtaining prior permission from the court.

“If any additional FIR is filed regarding the same set of allegations in Jaipur, the petitioner’s arrest shall remain stayed. The petitioner is ordered to deposit his passport at the Thane police station and is prohibited from leaving the country without the court’s prior permission,” Justice Kant added.
