While addressing a rally in Seraikela on Monday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah promised that the BJP would form a committee to identify and expel “infiltrators” if the party wins the upcoming Jharkhand assembly elections. He also committed to enacting a law that would prevent the transfer of land to “infiltrators” who marry tribal women, a tactic he claimed is used to seize tribal land.
Shah emphasized that the tribal population in Jharkhand is being displaced as infiltrators marry local women to acquire land. He declared, “We will stop land transfers to these infiltrators and set up a committee to identify and remove them, recovering the land that has been wrongfully taken.” Shah reiterated the BJP’s stance on protecting the land and rights of the tribal community, vowing that any usurped land would be returned to the tribal people of Jharkhand.
He also pointed to Champai Soren’s resignation as Chief Minister of Jharkhand earlier this year, blaming his departure on his stance against infiltration. Soren, a former JMM leader, left his position after Hemant Soren, who had been jailed, took over as Chief Minister. Shah accused the JMM-led coalition of corruption and promised that those responsible for misgovernance would face legal consequences.
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, also campaigning in Jharkhand, criticized the current state government for allegedly allowing Jharkhand to become a sanctuary for Rohingyas and Bangladeshi infiltrators. Speaking at a rally in Garhwa, Adityanath accused the JMM-led coalition of fostering an environment of lawlessness and instability by enabling the spread of these infiltrators.
Adityanath further claimed that Jharkhand’s natural resources were being exploited under the present administration and pledged that only the BJP could ensure the state’s prosperity, national security, women’s safety, and job creation for the youth. He also addressed the issue of “Love Jihad,” declaring that only the BJP had the resolve to counter such threats to the safety of Jharkhand’s daughters.
During another rally in Palamu, Adityanath suggested renaming Hussainabad as “Ram Nagar” and emphasized the BJP’s commitment to addressing local issues and promoting security and empowerment.
The Jharkhand assembly elections will be held in two phases, on November 13 and 20, and the results will be announced on November 23.
