It is noteworthy that Jammu & Kashmir is slated to conduct its inaugural Assembly election in September this year, post the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019 and its subsequent division into two union territories. Various political entities have advocated for early assembly elections and the reinstatement of statehood. The Supreme Court has mandated that elections be held by September, setting a clear timeline for the process.
