Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release the 17th installment of the PM-KISAN scheme, distributing over Rs 20,000 crore to benefit 9.26 crore farmers during his visit to Varanasi tomorrow.

What is the PM-KISAN Scheme?

The PM-KISAN scheme provides financial aid to landholding farmers, disbursing Rs 2,000 every four months, totaling Rs 6,000 annually. The government has released 16 installments so far, with the 17th due next week. PM Modi emphasized the government’s commitment to farmer welfare, stating that the first file signed upon taking office was related to this aid.

Checking Beneficiary Status Online

Farmers can check their PM-KISAN beneficiary status online by following these steps:

  1. Visit the official PM-KISAN website at pmkisan.gov.in.
  2. Navigate to the ‘Farmers Corner’ section and click on ‘Beneficiary Status’.
  3. Enter your Aadhaar or registered bank account number details and click on ‘Get Data’. Your status will appear on the screen.

Completing e-KYC Formalities

To receive financial assistance under the scheme, completing e-KYC is mandatory. Farmers can choose either biometric-based e-KYC or OTP-based e-KYC.

Steps for OTP-Based e-KYC

  1. Visit pmkisan.gov.in.
  2. In the ‘Farmers Corner’, click on the e-KYC tab.
  3. Enter your Aadhaar details and registered mobile number.
  4. An OTP will be sent to your mobile for verification.
  5. Enter the OTP to complete the e-KYC process.

For biometric-based e-KYC, farmers can visit Common Service Centres (CSC) or State Seva Kendra.

The release of the 17th installment underscores the government’s ongoing efforts to support the agricultural sector and ensure financial stability for farmers across the country.
