13-Year-Old Girl Found Dead at Dwarka Home; Delhi Police Suspect Strangulation

A 13-year-old girl was found dead under suspicious circumstances at her rented accommodation in South West Delhi’s Sitapuri area on Thursday afternoon, police said.

According to officials, the Dabri police station received a PCR call reporting the incident around 1:45 pm. Preliminary findings suggest the girl may have been strangled, though confirmation is awaited from the post-mortem report.

The body was discovered in a room on the terrace by the girl’s mother, who works as a seamstress. On returning home from work, she found her daughter’s hands tied and a dupatta around her neck. She immediately alerted the landlord and informed the police.

The girl lived with her single mother and siblings. At the time of the incident, her elder brother was reportedly at his workplace in Uttam Nagar, while her elder sister was at work in Som Bazaar, police added.

The victim’s body has been sent to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital for autopsy. A crime team and forensic experts examined the scene, with initial findings ruling out signs of sexual assault.

A case of murder has been registered and an investigation is underway. Police teams are scanning CCTV footage from the area and conducting technical surveillance to identify suspects, officials said.
