Karnataka Minister Sparks Controversy with ‘Suicide Bomber’ Remark Against Pakistan
Karnataka Housing and Minorities Welfare Minister BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan ignited controversy on Friday after declaring he was ready to become a suicide bomber and wage war against Pakistan in response to the recent terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam. His dramatic statement, made during a press conference, quickly went viral and triggered sharp reactions across the political spectrum.
What the Minister Said:
“Pakistan has always been India’s enemy,” an emotional Khan said. “If Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah give me permission, I’m ready to strap a suicide bomb to myself and head to Pakistan for an attack.” Emphasizing his seriousness, Khan added, “I’m not joking or saying this for effect — I mean it.” His remarks, made amid laughter from those around him, reflected his frustration over repeated terror strikes targeting civilians.
Khan’s comments followed his condemnation of the Pahalgam attack, which he called a “barbaric and inhuman act” against innocent people. He urged the Centre to take firm action against terrorism and called for national unity.
However, his aggressive rhetoric contrasted with the more measured response from Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who advocated restraint. “War is not the solution,” Siddaramaiah said. “It will only cause further loss of life. We must act wisely and in the national interest, not be driven by emotion.”
On April 22, 2025, a deadly terrorist attack struck Baisaran Valley near Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, where gunmen opened fire on a group of tourists, killing at least 26 and injuring over 20. The incident sharply escalated tensions between India and Pakistan, leading to diplomatic strains and border clashes.
