Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah Confirms Receiving Threat Calls, Orders Police Action

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday confirmed that he has received threat calls and directed the police to trace those responsible and initiate strict action against them.

“I too get threat calls — what to do? We have informed the police and instructed them to identify those making these calls and take necessary action,” Siddaramaiah told reporters in response to a question about Speaker U T Khader reportedly receiving a similar threat.

The Chief Minister also addressed the recent murder of rowdy-sheeter Suhas Shetty in Mangaluru, stating that police have been tasked with swiftly apprehending those involved. “I have spoken to the police. We have sent the ADGP (Law and Order) to Mangaluru, and instructions have been given to arrest the culprits at the earliest,” he said.

Commenting on the incident, Siddaramaiah added that the motive behind Shetty’s killing is still unclear. “He was said to be a rowdy-sheeter, but that needs to be verified. Whether the murder was premeditated is yet to be established. The investigation will reveal more,” he noted.

Taking a dig at the BJP, Siddaramaiah alleged that the opposition party often uses such incidents for political mileage. He also questioned the Centre over the recent Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed 26 lives.

“Wasn’t that a security lapse? I was told there wasn’t a single police or security personnel present at the site where the attack happened. With hundreds of tourists visiting the area, shouldn’t there have been security arrangements in place?” he asked, criticising the Modi government’s handling of the situation.
