Bengaluru Former Serviceman Killed by Wife and Son After Domestic Tensions: Police Investigation Reveals Pre-Meditated Murder
A former serviceman, Bolu Arab, was allegedly murdered by his wife and teenage son at their Bengaluru residence in the early hours of Sunday, after months of domestic conflict. The tragic incident unfolded in the Viveknagar area of central Bengaluru.
According to a report by Deccan Herald, 47-year-old Arab, who had voluntarily retired from the armed forces in 2017, had settled in Bengaluru with his family. Originally from Maharashtra, Arab was known for his disciplinarian approach, which reportedly led to growing tensions at home.
Arab’s wife, 36-year-old Tabassum, and their 19-year-old son, Sameer — a first-year college student — were arrested by police in connection with the murder. The arrest followed discrepancies in the initial story given by Sameer to the authorities. Around 1 am on Sunday, Sameer called the police control room, claiming that a group of six men had broken into their home and attacked his father. However, responding officers found inconsistencies in the account and discovered irregularities at the crime scene, prompting further investigation.
During questioning, both Tabassum and Sameer confessed to the murder. According to police, their frustration had been building due to Arab’s rigid household rules. On the night of the incident, Arab had reprimanded Sameer for socializing with his friends and had also scolded Tabassum for not managing Sameer’s behavior.
“Sameer confessed to purchasing sleeping pills and mixing them into his father’s dinner,” a senior police officer confirmed. Investigators believe the murder was premeditated, rooted in long-standing domestic disputes. Sameer told police that his father was excessively controlling, often doubting his actions, and restricting his freedom. He also revealed that his mother had often borne the brunt of Arab’s temper.
Arab and Tabassum had been married for 22 years. While Arab hailed from Maharashtra, Tabassum was originally from Hyderabad.
