Haryana to Develop New Highway Connecting Ambala and Panchkula, Says Anil Vij

Haryana Transport Minister Anil Vij on Monday announced the development of a new national highway to strengthen direct connectivity between Ambala and Panchkula. The proposed highway will be a four to six-lane stretch, extending from Baldev Nagar in Ambala to Khatoli village near Panchkula.

Vij also revealed plans to upgrade the Ambala–Saha road. A four-lane road will be constructed from Indira Chowk to GT Road near Jaggi City Centre, located in front of Ambala’s upcoming domestic airport.

The minister said he had earlier written to Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, requesting faster connectivity between Ambala and Panchkula. Following his request, Gadkari directed the relevant authorities to initiate the project.

The new highway project includes upgrading the existing NH-72 from Baldev Nagar to Handsera and developing a greenfield alignment up to Khatoli, linking NH-44 to NH-344. Vij emphasized that the improved road network would not only enhance Haryana’s connectivity but also strengthen links with Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Chandigarh.

“The highway will boost local trade, tourism, and related industries while generating employment opportunities,” he added.
