Saif Ali Khan Stabbing Case: Mumbai Police Files 1000-Page Chargesheet, Reveals Shocking New Details
Nearly three months after actor Saif Ali Khan was stabbed during an alleged burglary attempt, Mumbai Police have filed a 1000-page chargesheet detailing the brutal attack and the evidence gathered.
Filed by Bandra Police, the chargesheet names the arrested accused, Shariful Islam, and includes forensic reports, over 70 witness statements—including Saif, Kareena Kapoor, their domestic staff—and crucial physical evidence. Among the key exhibits are three parts of the knife used in the attack, recovered from the crime scene, Saif’s body, and the accused. Forensic analysis confirmed that all three pieces belonged to the same weapon. A fingerprint match linking Shariful to the crime scene was also included.
How the Attack Unfolded
According to the police, Shariful initially tried entering the building through the main gate but was blocked by a fingerprint recognition system. He then climbed through a duct area to access the first floor and eventually reached Saif’s flat on the 8th floor.
Armed with a knife, hacksaw blade, and hammer, Shariful attacked the caretaker, Eliyama Philip, demanding ₹1 crore. Saif intervened during the scuffle and was stabbed in the process. “The accused didn’t recognize Saif at first. When he realized who he had attacked, he panicked and fled,” said a police officer, quoted by Midday.
The Escape Route
After fleeing the scene, Shariful changed clothes at the National College bus stop and discarded the weapon and old clothes near Bandra Talao. He then wandered to Dadar, bought headphones, ate bhurji pav, and finally walked back to his home in Worli. His fingerprint was later found in the building’s duct area.
Saif’s Recovery
The actor suffered stab wounds to his thoracic spine and was admitted to Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent surgery. He was discharged on January 21 and has since resumed work. Security has been tightened at his Bandra residence, especially with regard to the safety of his children, Taimur and Jeh.
