Ravindra Jadeja’s Message for Fans Amid CSK’s Tough IPL 2025 Start
Chennai Super Kings (CSK), five-time IPL champions, haven’t had the ideal start to their IPL 2025 campaign. After a thrilling opening win against Mumbai Indians, the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led team has suffered back-to-back losses against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Rajasthan Royals.
Following CSK’s latest defeat, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja took to social media to reassure fans, promising that better days are ahead. A day after the Rajasthan Royals match in Guwahati, Jadeja posted a picture with MS Dhoni, signaling his confidence that the team will bounce back soon.
Jadeja & Dhoni’s Effort Falls Short Against Rajasthan Royals
CSK’s match against Rajasthan Royals saw a late surge from Jadeja and Dhoni, who fought hard to get their team over the line. Chasing 39 off the last two overs, the duo smashed 19 runs in the 19th over, bowled by Tushar Deshpande, keeping the chase alive.
With 20 runs needed off the final over, Dhoni seemed ready to script yet another thrilling finish. However, Sandeep Sharma struck on the very first ball, dismissing the CSK icon and crushing the team’s hopes of victory. In the end, CSK fell short by six runs, handing Rajasthan Royals their first win of the season.
Dhoni finished with 16 off 11 balls, while Jadeja remained unbeaten on 32 off 22.
Why is Dhoni Batting Lower in the Order?
A major talking point this season has been Dhoni’s batting position. Against Rajasthan Royals, he came in at No. 7, and in the match against RCB, he batted at No. 9—raising concerns among fans.
CSK head coach Stephen Fleming later explained that Dhoni’s knee issues prevent him from batting for long stretches.
“MS manages his own workload. His knees aren’t what they used to be, and while he moves well, there’s a limit to how long he can bat at full intensity. He assesses each game and steps in accordingly,” Fleming said.
“We know his value—not just as a batter, but as a leader and wicketkeeper. Throwing him in for 10 overs of batting isn’t ideal. If the match situation demands, he’ll come in earlier, but he has to balance his physical condition with the team’s needs,” he added.
CSK’s Road Ahead
Currently placed seventh in the IPL 2025 points table, CSK will aim to turn things around when they face Delhi Capitals on Saturday, April 5, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
