Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi accused the newly formed BJP-led Delhi government of failing to honor its pre-election commitments on Thursday. In its first meeting, she alleged that Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s cabinet approved only two agenda items, notably omitting the ₹2,500 monthly financial aid scheme for women—a major BJP campaign promise.
“The BJP had assured that in its first cabinet meeting, it would approve the scheme providing ₹2,500 per month to women in Delhi. The new CM Rekha Gupta and her ministers took oath, held their first cabinet meeting at 7 PM, but the promised scheme was missing,” Atishi said in a video posted on X.
She further claimed, “On day one itself, the BJP has started breaking its promises. They have made up their mind to deceive the people.”
Delhi Govt Rolls Out Ayushman Bharat, Plans to Table CAG Reports
Following the meeting, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced that her government would implement the Centre’s Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme—another BJP election promise. Under this scheme, beneficiaries will receive ₹10 lakh in health coverage, with both the Centre and the Delhi government contributing ₹5 lakh each.
Gupta also stated that the government would table 14 Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports on the previous AAP administration’s performance during the first session of the newly formed eighth Delhi Assembly. These reports, she alleged, had been blocked by the AAP while in power.
Responding to Atishi’s accusations, Gupta dismissed the criticism, saying, “This is our government; we will decide the agenda. Let us work. She has done what she had to while in power.”
