Delhi New CM Announcement: BJP to Name Next Chief Minister on February 19

After a sweeping victory in the Delhi Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to announce its choice for the next Chief Minister on Wednesday, ending speculation over its top pick. According to party sources cited by PTI, newly elected BJP MLAs will meet on February 19 to finalize their selection.

The BJP’s national leadership will send observers to oversee the legislature party meeting, at which the leader of the House in the Delhi Assembly will be elected—who will also be the next Chief Minister of Delhi. Vinod Tawde and Tarun Chugh have been appointed in charge of the arrangements.

New Delhi CM to Take Oath on February 20
Sources indicate that the new Chief Minister will be sworn in at Ramlila Maidan on February 20. Initially scheduled for February 18, the ceremony was rescheduled following a postponement of the BJP Legislature Party meeting, which was originally set for Monday but will now take place on February 19.

Who Will Attend the Swearing-in Ceremony?
The event is expected to be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, NDA leaders, Union Ministers, Chief Ministers, business leaders, film stars, cricketers, and spiritual figures, according to BJP sources.

– Satish Upadhyay – Former Delhi BJP president and past leader of the Delhi Youth Wing.
– Ashish Sood – A key BJP leader in Delhi politics.
– Jitendra Mahajan – Another strong candidate for the role.
– Vijender Gupta – A senior BJP leader in Delhi.
– Rekha Gupta – If BJP opts for a female leader, the former Delhi Mayor and first-time MLA could be a contender.
