Cristiano Ronaldo extended his goal-scoring run in the Saudi Pro League with another goal for Al Nassr on Sunday, bringing his tally to 920 goals in professional football as he approaches his 40th birthday next month. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner helped Al Nassr secure a 3-1 victory over Al Fateh at Al-Awwal Park. Despite the win, Al Nassr remained in third place in the league standings, trailing behind Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad.
Ronaldo scored the third goal for his team in the victory, but two of his goals were disallowed by VAR, leaving him visibly frustrated after the match. He was seen expressing his anger on camera, despite his team’s success.
After the game, Ronaldo met his friend and renowned journalist Piers Morgan, who had been at the stadium to watch the match. Morgan, shaking hands with Ronaldo, said, “You were robbed,” to which Ronaldo replied, “They don’t like me to score goals.”
The 39-year-old has been in excellent form this year, already scoring four goals in as many matches, as he edges closer to his goal of reaching 1,000 goals in professional football.
Ronaldo earlier expressed his satisfaction with his life in Saudi Arabia, saying that his family is happy and that he enjoys both his personal and professional life in the country.
“I’m happy, and my family is happy. We started a new life in this beautiful country. Life is good, football is good. In terms of individual and collective, we are still there. We are still improving,” Ronaldo shared with the Saudi Pro League’s official media.
He acknowledged that competing in the Saudi Pro League against teams like Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad is challenging but remains determined to win more titles with Al Nassr.
“It’s hard to compete with teams like Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad, but we are still there, still pushing and fighting. Football is like that; you have good moments and bad moments. But, for me, the most important thing is to be professional, to push hard, respect the club, respect your contract, and believe that things will change – for Al Nassr to try to win more titles,” he added.
