Heavy snowfall hit the upper reaches of Sikkim on Tuesday evening, significantly lowering temperatures across the region.

The official report indicates that black ice has formed along the Thulo Khola area, making the roads to Nathula and Tsomgo Lake unsafe for travel. Efforts are underway to clear the snow, but it may take one to two days before the roads are safe for vehicles.

In light of this, the Tourism Department has temporarily halted the issuance of permits for visiting Nathula and Tsomgo Lake. Travelers are advised to stay informed about the situation and proceed with caution. Authorities are actively monitoring the weather and road conditions to ensure safety.
