Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate several significant development projects in Delhi on Friday, marking a pivotal day for the city’s growth. He emphasized that the initiatives would enhance the quality of life for residents.
“Today is a key day for Delhi’s development. In Ashok Vihar, I will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for various projects aimed at improving ‘Ease of Living’ for Delhi’s citizens,” PM Modi stated on X (formerly Twitter).
Among the projects set for the inauguration are 1,675 newly constructed flats for the residents of Jhuggi Jhopri (JJ) clusters in Ashok Vihar, the World Trade Centre (WTC) at Nauroji Nagar, General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) Type-II Quarters at Sarojini Nagar, and the CBSE Integrated Office Complex at Dwarka.
Additionally, PM Modi will lay the foundation for three major Delhi University projects worth ₹600 crore, which include the Eastern Campus in Surajmal Vihar, the Western Campus in Dwarka, and Veer Savarkar College at Roshanpura, Najafgarh, all featuring modern, cutting-edge facilities.
The naming of Veer Savarkar College has sparked controversy, with Congress accusing the BJP of “glorifying those who submitted mercy petitions to the British.” In contrast, the BJP has criticized Congress for disparaging significant historical figures. The debate is further intensified by the leadership of the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU), which is currently under the influence of NSUI, the student wing of Congress.
The inauguration is expected to have a lasting impact on the city’s infrastructure, education system, and housing sector.
