Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Monday reiterated that the alleged ties between Congress leader Sonia Gandhi and Hungarian-American billionaire George Soros raise serious national concerns. He called on all political parties, including Congress, to unite against “anti-India forces.”
Speaking to the media before a contentious Parliament session, Rijiju emphasized that some issues, such as the reported links between Soros and certain organizations, should not be viewed through a partisan lens. “This is not about party politics; it’s about national security. We need to take these allegations seriously if they involve forces that work against India,” Rijiju stated.
His remarks followed claims by the BJP that Sonia Gandhi, in her role as co-president of the Forum of Democratic Leaders in Asia Pacific (FDL-AP) Foundation, is connected to organizations funded by Soros. The BJP highlighted that these organizations have reportedly supported the notion of Kashmir as an independent entity, which they argue poses a threat to India’s sovereignty.
Rijiju urged all political parties to join forces in opposing any anti-India agenda, stressing that even Congress should be vocal if their leaders are found to have such links. “If any leader, regardless of party, is found to be working with anti-India forces, it is our collective responsibility to oppose them,” he added.
Reacting to Rijiju’s statement, RJD MP Manoj Jha accused the government of peddling conspiracy theories and suggested that the ruling party should investigate the matter if they believed it to be serious.
