Gujarat’s tourism industry is thriving, with the state seeing a remarkable rise in domestic and international visitors. The state’s rich cultural heritage, diverse landscapes, and iconic landmarks have become increasingly attractive to tourists, positioning Gujarat as one of India’s most desirable destinations. This growth is attributed to the forward-thinking policies of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, who has spearheaded numerous infrastructural upgrades to ensure that Gujarat remains a premier destination on the global tourism map.
From October 26 to November 15, 2024, Gujarat experienced an impressive influx of 61.70 lakh visitors during the 20-day Diwali holiday. Tourists visited 16 of the state’s most famous sites, including revered pilgrimage locations and natural attractions. Kankaria Lake in Ahmedabad was a significant draw, with more than 5.50 lakh visitors, while the Dwarka Temple recorded the highest footfall, welcoming over 13 lakh devotees. These numbers reflect the growing popularity of Gujarat’s tourism offerings and the state’s ability to draw in a diverse range of visitors.
Gujarat’s iconic attractions, including the Statue of Unity, the Atal Bridge, and the Riverfront Flower Park, have continued to captivate tourists. Notable spiritual and cultural destinations, such as the Pavagadh Temple, Somnath Temple, and Modhera Sun Temple, have also seen heightened footfall. The state’s government has ensured that all necessary amenities and services are in place, allowing tourists to enjoy their visits easily and comfortably.
The Rann Utsav, one of Gujarat’s most anticipated cultural festivals, is also in full swing, attracting domestic and international tourists. The 2024-25 edition of the festival features a wide range of activities, from cultural performances to thrilling adventure sports. The newly introduced Adventure Zone, with 20 different activities, including paramotoring and ATV rides, is drawing visitors eager to experience Gujarat’s vibrant culture and adventurous spirit. Additionally, a specially designed Children’s Activity Park offers fun, interactive activities to promote nutrition and healthy living education and a VR gaming zone for added excitement.
Further boosting Gujarat’s global tourism credentials, the state hosted a series of G-20 meetings in 2024 at stunning venues such as the Statue of Unity and Dhordo in Kutch. The delegates, who visited landmarks, including the ancient city of Dholavira and the historic Modhera Sun Temple, were deeply impressed by Gujarat’s rich cultural and architectural heritage. They praised these sites as world treasures, highlighting the importance of preserving them for future generations.
