Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis condemned Congress’ ‘troll army’ for targeting his wife with accusations and inappropriate comments, saying such behaviour would embarrass any civilized person.

Speaking to news agency ANI, Fadnavis remarked, “I told my wife that being in politics requires patience. Lies have a short life; the truth may face challenges but can never be defeated.” He criticized those creating memes and writing derogatory remarks about his wife, asserting that such actions reflect poorly on their character.

“Those who engage in such behaviour—making memes and writing indecent comments—should feel ashamed. They should reflect on their conduct. If you want to challenge, do it openly and directly,” Fadnavis added.

He revealed that over the past five years, he and his wife had endured constant scrutiny and personal attacks from the opposition. “They investigated everything about me, from my hair to my nails, but found nothing. When they couldn’t uncover anything, they resorted to personal insults,” Fadnavis said.

The remarks came in response to Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar, who criticized Fadnavis during a rally in Nagpur South West. Kumar mocked the Deputy Chief Minister by suggesting that while ordinary people fight a “dharmyudh,” the leaders’ children study abroad, and the Deputy CM’s wife focuses on making Instagram reels.

Earlier, Fadnavis had called for Hindu unity, framing the electoral battle as a ‘vote dharmyudh’ to counter what he termed as ‘vote jihad.’ He alleged that in previous Lok Sabha elections, strategic voting in Malegaon by a particular community cost the BJP-led alliance its victory in Dhule.

The electoral battle in Maharashtra on November 20 will see the ruling Mahayuti, comprising the BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP, facing off against the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi, led by Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and NCP factions.
