Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the inaugural session of “Journey Towards Viksit Bharat: A Post Union Budget 2024-25 Conference” in Delhi on Tuesday. Organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the conference aims to present the government’s vision for growth and the industry’s role in it, the PMO announced on Monday.

Over 1,000 participants from industry, government, diplomatic community, and think tanks will attend in person, while many others will join virtually from CII centers around the country and overseas.

Opposition Rally for Kejriwal’s Release at Jantar Mantar

Meanwhile, at Jantar Mantar, the Opposition-led INDIA bloc will hold a rally organized by the AAP to protest the continued incarceration of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal in the now-scrapped liquor policy case, despite his declining health in Tihar jail. The rally is expected to demonstrate opposition unity, with participation from Congress, SP, RJD, TMC, DMK, CPI, CPI(M-L), NCP (SP), Shiv Sena (UBT), and other opposition parties.

The AAP has accused the BJP of “conspiring to kill” Kejriwal in jail, citing a medical report that shows his sugar levels had fallen 26 times between June 3 and July 7. Notably, Punjab’s AAP CM Bhagwant Mann will attend the rally, skipping his government’s farewell for outgoing Governor Banwarilal Purohit, who will be replaced by Gulab Chand Kataria.

Opposition Rocks Rajasthan Assembly with Anti-Dalit Charge

In BJP-ruled Rajasthan, the opposition, led by the Congress and the Bharat Adivasi Party (BAP), targeted the government over crimes against Dalits on Monday, leading to three adjournments. Speaker Vasudev Devnani assured the opposition of a government response during Zero Hour today.

BAP MLA Thavar Chand raised the issue of a Dalit teacher’s murder in Salumbhar district last week, while Congress MLA Pitram Singh Kala highlighted other alleged atrocities against Dalits. Leader of Opposition Tikaram Jully also criticized the government on this issue.

BJP Gets Jharkhand Assembly Adjourned with ‘Bangladeshi’ Charge

In Jharkhand, the Assembly saw chaotic scenes on Monday as BJP MLAs raised concerns over Bangladeshi infiltration and alleged atrocities against tribals, leading to multiple adjournments. The Assembly will reconvene today, with the BJP expected to maintain its focus on these issues ahead of the state Assembly polls, in line with the strategy laid out by Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Himanta Biswa Sarma to Review Assam Welfare Projects

In Assam, CM Sarma will review the progress of ongoing welfare projects with ministers, senior officials, and district commissioners (DCs) on the last day of a two-day conference in Guwahati. He emphasized the importance of leveraging district-specific strengths for state growth and announced that newly created sub-districts will start functioning from October 2, with the foundation stone for their permanent offices to be laid the same day.

A core team will be formed to support DCs in delegating work to the sub-districts. Sarma also directed DCs to supervise the construction of government buildings and expedite work on health, education, and anganwadi centers. Flood rehabilitation grants are to be distributed by August 12.

Himachal Congress Changes on the Horizon

In Himachal Pradesh, Congress MP Pratibha Singh from Mandi, also the state Congress president, met with party national president Mallikarjun Kharge in Delhi to submit a report on the recent Lok Sabha and Assembly byelections. She is expected to discuss the party’s state organizational structure with the high command today.
